Cărturești

Cărturești is Romania’s first concept bookstore; opened in late 2000, it is dedicated to a new kind of shopping experience and the promotion of books and cultural products. Having since become the leading bookstore chain on the Romanian market, Cărturești comprises 60 stores, including three in Chișinău. The brand’s flagship locations include Cărturești Carusel—featured in *The Telegraph*’s list of the world’s most beautiful bookstores; Cărturești Verona, the largest space dedicated to reading, which also houses a Fandom Cărturești location; Cărturești Modul, a visual culture bookstore featuring an indoor garden, an event space, and a café; Cărturești Operei, an urban bookstore tailored to the local rhythm and history of Timișoara; and Cărturești Casa Hintz, a bookstore housed within a museum building—specifically, the city’s oldest former pharmacy. Cărturești operates as a cultural and educational ecosystem, supported by a range of initiatives dedicated to the general public, Romanian creators, and local communities.
