Danielle Rose Russell was born on 31 October 1999 in Pequannock Township, New Jersey, and was raised in West Milford. The daughter of a former dancer and a singer, she started out in modelling and regional theatre before making her film debut in A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014) and appearing in Wonder (2017). She took over the role of Hope Mikaelson in the final season of The Originals (2018) and led the spin-off Legacies (2018-2022), earning a Teen Choice Award nomination in 2019.
